Iva van der Burgh-Vrees

Iva van der Burgh-Vrees is a biomedical engineer in the role of research technician in the Cardiovascular Tissue Regeneration group of prof. dr. Carlijn Bouten. Within the Holland Hybrid Heart consortium, Iva focusses on developing the inner lining of the Hybrid heart and researching its interaction with blood. Her goal is to build on in-situ tissue engineering strategies to create a living interface on the inside of the Hybrid Heart. To achieve this, Iva's research aims for the material of the inner lining to harness the function of blood-derived immune cells and steer the immune response towards a biocompatible barrier on the inside of the Hybrid Heart.
