Arie Paul van den Beukel

Dr. ir. Arie Paul van den Beukel is trained as an Industrial Design Engineer, specialized in Human Technology Interaction. He graduated on workplace improvements for medic technicians working at departments for instruments sterilization and logistics. After working as a Product Development Engineer in the automotive industry, he obtained his PhD at the University of Twente focusing on the driver’s role and user experience of driving automation systems.

Since 2021 Arie Paul is heading the Saxion Research Group on Industrial Design and Saxion’s FabLab for rapid prototyping and concept testing.

In this project, Arie Paul is Workpackage leader for WP0 Innovation Impact & User Requirements. His motivation stems from the importance to not only design the technology itself but also carefully anticipate on future use and societal impact of the hybrid heart. This is a design challenge that requires continuous interaction between technology development and user acceptance. WP0 addresses this challenge.
